As part of his inspection tour of the university buildings, the Assistant President of the University of Technology for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, inspected the stages of rehabilitation of the chemical materials storehouse belonging to the Chemical Engineering Department on Tuesday, 26/12/2023. The administrative assistant stated that the University of Technology pays great attention to providing safety and security requirements for working in chemical laboratories and warehouses. It is worth noting that the safe storage of chemical materials according to the proper conditions receives direct attention and follow-up by the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al Ghabban, and under the supervision of the Assistant President of the University of Technology for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Khawla Salah Khashan in order to maintain the safety of workers, including students, researchers and employees, as well as preserve the environment and achieve the requirements of all quality standards.

 

The Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajmi Sukkar, inspected the progress of the final exams for the first semester of the academic year 2023/2024 for the students of the Chemical Engineering Department, with the exception of the first-year students. During his inspection tour of the examination halls, he was briefed on the nature of the procedures taken to provide the appropriate atmosphere and the extent of providing all necessary supplies to conduct the examination process. In addition to reviewing the nature of the examination questions and the level of the questions, he stressed during his inspection tour the necessity of making every effort to provide the appropriate examination atmosphere for the students, wishing them good luck and success in their academic studies.

 

 In preparation for the end of the first semester exams, the Department of Chemical Engineering held a meeting of the General Faculty of Teachers in the presence of the representative of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, Assistant to the President of the University for Administrative Affairs, on Wednesday, 12/20/2023.

The Commission discussed the most important topics that would advance academic work and develop the educational process. The assistant president of the university listened to the proposals of the professors, which aim to improve the pioneering role of the university professor in order to serve the community and improve the quality of performance. For his part, Professor Dr. Khaled Ajami Sukkar expressed his thanks to the university presidency and the teaching staff for their efforts made during the first semester and the scientific excellence the department has achieved in the field of purposeful scientific publishing. At the end of the meeting, the efforts of Professor Dr. Jamal Manea Ali were appreciated by the representative of the university president with a certificate of appreciation for his previous efforts in managing the department.

As part of the scientific and cultural activity for the first semester, the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology organized an awareness lecture entitled University Life on Wednesday, 12/20/2023.

The lecture was given by Sheikh Dr. Ali Munie. During which he gave a detailed presentation on the nature of university life as it is related to the youth stage, and touched on the importance of good behavior in order to build a solid society based on science and knowledge. In conclusion, the Presidency of the Chemical Engineering Department granted a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in appreciation of his efforts in delivering the lecture.

 Sponsored by Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, President of the University of Technology, and in implementation of the university’s directives to enhance safety and security in the scientific departments and university departments, the Chemical Engineering Department conducted a field training exercise to implement the civil defense emergency plan on Wednesday, 12/20/2023. The event began with sounding the alarm bell in the department building, evacuating classrooms and administrative offices, adopting directional signs for emergency exits, and gathering outside the department building with a good safety distance. Professor Dr. Khaled Ajami Sukkar, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, announced the success of the training experience in which more than 200 students, associates, and teachers participated, and included the work of more than ten specialized teams in guidance, guidance, response, first aid, fire brigades, and firefighting, as well as casualty evacuation teams. This field practice comes in order to enhance safety and civil defense requirements in the event of disasters and emergencies, may God forgive us, to preserve lives and enhance the culture of public safety.
